Architecture

Like biological adaptation, we view architectural style not as an initial design decision, but as a responsive framework, determined by the interdependencies of program, site, structure, and budget.

Through an encyclopedic survey of building types and their variation by region, we characterize all projects as instances along a taxonomic tree. Clear moments of pairing and branching characterize the evolution of new building traits, which in turn form new vocabularies for architectural expression.

While every project may be located within this Family Tree, each instance remains absolutely unique, as its generic and typological nature must confront the specific nurture of a distinctive site and cultural condition.

Through this coherence of building type and site research, we seek to develop new taxa of form and function.

TAXA Projects is an Architectural Research and Design Studio with experience at all scales of Project Delivery: from Project Planning and Feasibility, to Schematic Design, Construction Documentation, Procurement, and 3D Visualizations.
